The “Konstantinos G. Karamanlis” Foundation organized and hosted an international academic two-day conference entitled “The Founders of European Integration” on March 27 and 28, 2012. Participants included the representatives of the five corresponding institutions, i.e., the “Jean Monnet pour l’Europe”, the “Robert Schuman”, the “Konrad Adenauer Stiftung”, the “Alcide de Gasperi” and the “Paul-Henri Spaak”, in addition to the “Konstantinos G. Karamanlis” Foundation. The central theme of the meeting was the vision and the strategy of the founders of new Europe in the aftermath of the Second World War, as they managed to overcome centuries-old national rivalries in order to build a united Europe which constitutes one of the greatest contemporary achievements worldwide.
